Schedule of Classes at Village Fabrics & Crafts

For your convenience our classroom is fully equipped with irons, ironing boards, cutting mats and rulers. We also have Bernina sewing machines available for your use. Please reserve one when you register for your class- first come, first serve.

If there is a class that you or a group of friends would like to attend, and the date that we have it scheduled for doesn’t work for you - please feel free to contact us and we will work to accommodate your needs!

August 2010 Class Schedule

4 in 1 Placemat – Wed. August 4^th, 11am – 1pm

Why make just one placemat when you can make four at once? Use four different fabrics to represent the seasons or holidays or just pick ones you like. (You only see one at a time so you don't have to worry if the colors don't match perfectly.) Fun and easy to make – you will finish at least one in class! Class fee: $10.00

Locker Hooking – Mon. Aug. 9, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Locker Hooking is a fun techique used to make rugs, placemats, hot pads, tote bags and more! All you need is the Locker Hooking tool, canvas(with 3.75 squares per inch), cotton yarn and fabric. Use leftover fabric strips from your stash or purchase fabrics to match your décor. You don't need to know how to sew to do Locker Hooking and its great for all ages. Class fee: $10.00

Intro to Paintstiks – Tues. Aug. 10, 11am – 1pm

Painstiks create deep, rich permanent colors on fabrics while remaining soft and smooth. Create beautiful fabrics of your own, make motifs for everything from quilt blocks, tablerunners, placemats and even curtains. There are so many options. By using the rubbing plates, you can create your own unique background fabrics, too. Come and try these for yourself. Your mind is guaranteed to be flooded with excitement and ideas. Class fee is $15.00 and includes the use of our Paintstiks.

Half & Half Apron – Thurs. Aug. 12, 10:30am -12:30pm

This cute little apron ties around the waist and uses two half yard pieces of fabric. You can use a larger print for the main piece if you would like. Great for beginners! Class fee: $10.00

Stashbusters – Sat. Aug. 14, 10am – 7pm

This is a FREE day for you to come and stitch on whatever you choose. Starting at 10 am, have fun turning your “stash” into a treasure chest of completed projects. “Stashbusters” isn’t only for sewing projects but knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, embroidery and more. It’s perfectly OK to start new projects, too! If you don’t have a sewing machine or can’t bring yours, ours are available for use on a first come, first serve basis. There are a limited number of sewing machines, so please call ahead to reserve one. Come for the day or as long as your schedule permits. We have coffee, tea, and there’s a fridge and microwave if you would like to bring your lunch, or you can go out or order in. It’s your day and it’s FREE! (Note: If you can't make it to this Stashbusters session, we offer them every month on the second Saturday and last Wednesday.)

Toothbrush Rugs – Mon. Aug. 16, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Learn this age old technique of “knotting” fabric strips to create rugs, chair pads, tablerunners and more! There isn't any sewing or increasing, it goes quickly and is fun. Don't worry - toothbrush not required - they make a tool for it now! Class fee: $10.00.

Crochet with Fabric – Tues. Aug. 17, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Learn how to take fabric strips and crochet them into beautiful items. Don't worry if you have never crocheted before, we will teach you how! Great way to use you your stash and leftover fabrics to make hot pads, rugs, chair pads, placemats and more. Make them to match any room in your house or scrappy and variegated in color. This is a great project for when you can't be at your sewing machine. You will have your choice of starting a square or circle in class and will be able to complete a hot pad size in class. You can finish it off as a hot pad or take it home and continue crocheting to make it as large as you would like. Class fee: $10.00

The Big Easy Tablerunner – Wed. Aug. 18, 10am – 1pm

The perfect tablerunner for when you need it done right away. It is about 12” X 40” and it is great for larger or novelty prints. Great for beginners! We have kits available or we can help you pick fabrics.

Class fee: $15.00

Three Pocket Tote – Tues. Aug. 24, 10:30am – 12:30pm

What a cute little bag and a great way to practice machine quilting! Main pocket in the center with a flap covered pocket on the front and back. Size is approximately 9” X 9” and is perfect when a small purse is all you need. Class fee: $10.00

Stashbusters – Wed. Aug. 25, 10am – 7pm

Half Circle Napkins – Thurs. Aug. 26, 10:30am – 12pm

This design of napkin fits nicely in the lap and it is two sided. You can make a set of eight in no time at all, plus there is a particular way to fold them so it looks pretty on the table. Class fee: $7.00

*Class attendees must preregister and pay for their classes in advance. This allows us time to schedule staff and supplies so that you have the best experience possible. Cancellations made at least 2 days in advance will receive a store credit. “No Shows” will not receive a refund or store credit. We will reschedule a class if the weather is severe. All supplies are available at Village Fabrics & Crafts and we greatly appreciate it when you purchase them from us. Bring your smiles and enthusiasm and we guarantee a great time!
