CLASSES Updated 2/28/10 For your convenience our classroom is fully equipped with irons, ironing boards, cutting mats and rulers. We also have Bernina sewing machines available for your use. Please reserve one when you register for your class- first come, first serve.
Create A Class Your Choice of Date & Time & Class Project! You and your family and friends can create a class just for you! Get away for a few hours, make a day of it or have your own multiple day retreat. This makes for a great birthday get together or a special bridal or baby shower. Days, weekends and evenings are all fine with us. You select the project, date and time and give us a call. If you need help picking a project or class let us know, we would be glad to assist you in designing the perfect class for you. Please be sure to call us as far in advance as possible. (Sometimes this means 4 or 5 weeks in advance.) We need the time for scheduling staff, instructors, class room space and making sure that all supplies will arrive on time so you are guaranteed to have a great time. Minimum number of students is three. Class fees will vary. Class Schedule If there is a class that you or a group of friends would like to attend, and the date that we have it scheduled for doesn’t work for you - please feel free to contact us and we will work to accommodate your needs!
March 2010 Class Schedule
The Exploding Pineapple Quilt – Tues. March 9, 10am – 5pm Make this beautiful pineapple block quilt with this amazing sew simple method! You are going to be amazed at how much fun this block can be and the possibilities are endless in both color placement and block sizes. It’s perfect for focus fabrics, embroidery designs and small motif designs. You will make your entire quilt top sewing only squares; no triangles and no waste of fabrics! Class fee $33.00.
The Perfect Organizer – Wed. March 10, 10am – 3pm This organizer is full of pockets for the smaller items on the outside and lots of room in the middle for larger items. It's such a clever idea; you sew this cover/organizer to fit over a large coffee can. It's just the right size to fit in your sewing area and decorative enough to be left out to hold your knit or crochet items or even on your desk. Everyone in the family can use one; personalize them with your fabric selections! Class fee $22.00
Toasty Toes Fabric Slippers – Thurs. March 11, 10am – 2pm These are sure to become your favorite slippers and everyone will want a pair of their own. (Think Easter, Christmas, birthdays!) The pattern includes all sizes. Make them with regular fabrics, flannels, even line them with warm and soft Minkee. The soles are thick, cushy and skid resistant. They are perfect in every way! You know everyone will love them because no one likes cold feet! Class fee $17.00
Stashbusters – Sat. March 13, 10am – 5pm Free stitching! Come and knit, crochet, sew, quilt or whatever you would like to do. It's a free day for you to come and stitch in the company of friends and uninterrupted! We provide coffee, tea and a dessert. You can bring a lunch, go out or order in. Come for the whole day or as your schedule permits; but do come and have fun! FREE!
Woven Fabric Basket– Thurs. March 18, 10am – 5pm Sew jelly roll strips of fabrics (2 ½” wide) into tubes, add a stabilizer and then weave them into an attractive basket that can hold your mail, be a desk organizer, filled with baked goods for friends and neighbors, or even hold a current stitching project. Your fabric selections determine the style or the holiday. These are excellent for Easter baskets; fill with goodies and they get to keep the basket! Class fee $33.00
National Quilting Day – Sat. Mach 20, 10am – 5pm Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference. Every pillowcase can make a difference in our community. A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a extended care resident. Join us in this national effort to make and donate one million pillowcases. Village Fabrics & Crafts will donate the fabric for each person to make one pillowcase to donate to the cause. Even if you have never sewn before come and join us. We will have lots of helpers and lots of fun. If you would like to stay and continue to make more pillowcases, bring your own sewing machine and your fabrics and we will be here to help! Let's see how many we can stitch up in one day! Introduction to Paintstiks on Fabrics – Mon. March 22, 2pm – 5pm Painstiks create deep, rich permanent colors on fabrics while remaining soft and smooth. Create beautiful fabrics of your own, make motifs for everything from quilt blocks, tablerunners, placemats and even curtains. There are so many options. By using the rubbing plates, you can create your own unique background fabrics, too. Come and try these for yourself. Your mind is guaranteed to be flooded with excitement and ideas. Class fee is $15.00 and includes the use of our Paintstiks.
The Tulip Purse – Thurs. March 25, 10am – 4pm Be ready for spring by sewing this fun, functional and easy Tulip Purse. The pattern pieces are shaped like tulip petals and it's as cute as can be plus it has many options for inner and outer pockets. The pattern includes four different sizes as well as instructions for making a basket that would be perfect for Easter. Class fee: $27.00
Spring Table Topper – Fri. March 26, 11pm – 4pm Rectangles turn into stunning triangles in this cute table topper that can be made for any season, holiday or special occasion. This is another great way to use the 60 degree triangle rulers, too. Use as few as four colors or make it scrappy if you would like. Our model is made with jelly bean fabric and ready to go for Easter. Class fee: $22.00

Up Coming April Classes
A Little Something Jacket – Tues. April 13, 10am – 4pm Breeze into spring with this light weight carefree jacket. The jacket has a slightly flared ¾ length sleeve or full length sleeve and is designed to move easily from work to weekend. Two different finished lengths are also available. As comfortable as it is stylish! Pattern ranges in sizes from 8 -24 and can be made from many types of fabrics. Please note - fabric should be pre-washed before making garment. Class fee: $27.00
Snap Happy Tote – Wed. April 14, 10am – 2pm This tote or purse can be made in two different sizes and a large print works nicely for the body of the tote. A contrasting edge and handle pulls it all together. It is completely lined and has inside pockets. The top is held closed by metal carpenter tape and can easily be opened with a pull of the handles. Class fee: $17.00
Class Courtesies *Class attendees must preregister and pay for their classes in advance. This allows us time to schedule staff and supplies so that you have the best experience possible. Cancellations made at least 2 days in advance will receive a store credit. “No Shows” will not receive a refund or store credit. We will reschedule a class if the weather is severe. All supplies are available at Village Fabrics & Crafts and we greatly appreciate it when you purchase them from us. Bring your smiles and enthusiasm and we guarantee a great time! |
*Our classes are designed to provide education while still having fun. You are here to learn, so don’t hesitate to ask questions. We love lots of questions. We were all beginners at one time.
*A model of each class project is in the shop.
*Each class has a supply list. This list will be provided upon registration and payment for the class.
*For day-long classes or classes that extend beyond the lunch time, a lunch break has been included in the class time.
*We have Bernina sewing machines for classroom use on a first come first serve basis. You can reserve one when you pay for your class. It’s a great time to try a Bernina!
*When the weather is severe classes will be rescheduled.
