Seamless Knitted Mittens

3 week class

Sunday, January 7, 14, 2; 2-5

Nothing beats warm woolen mittens and they are the best for making perfect snowballs!If you can knit and purl you can make these mittens!This is my favorite style; no seams and they fit either hand.You will learn how to cast on and knit in the round, to customize the cuff length, to knit the thumb and to finish the top.Knowledge of the knit and purl stitches are required.Class fee:$50.00

Chill Chasers

Cuddle Cowl or Twisty-Twirly Cuddle Scarf

Monday, January 8; 10-12

Cuddle is the softest fabric ever and there is nothing like its softness tucked around your neck to keep out the winter cold.Choose from either the cowl design or Twisty-Twirly scarf design to make in class.These are a snap to make and beginner sewists welcome.Class fee:$20.00

Color Block Quilted Placemats

Tuesday, January 9; 10-2

Color selections are sweet and easy for these so you can delve right into learning the techniques.Start with simple piecing, add a bit of machine quilting and finish with gently curved corners and bias binding.You will make one placemat in class and go home with the knowledge to complete the set.Class fee:$30.00

Beginning Free Motion Machine Quilting

With the right tips, techniques, tools and practice, you can do free motion quilting!We will discuss battings, threads, machine settings, machine feet and styles of free motion designs.Practice the techniques in class while stitching on small items of your choosing.Class fee:$20.00

Cat’s Cradle Quilted Table Runner

Monday, January 15; 10-5

This traditional quilt block is known by several other names but no matter what the name it consists of triangles and squares and matching points.Eliminate the frustration of lost triangle points by making the cat’s cradle units with this very cleverly designed ruler.With the ruler and a bundle or two of 5” charm squares, you will easily make stacks of accurate triangle units in no time.Stitch the completed blocks together into your desired pattern in class and complete the table runner at home.This is a very common block section design that you will see and use many times and the ruler gives measurements for making blocks from 1 ½” to 4”.Class fee:$40.00

English Paper Piecing

Tuesday, January 16;10-1

This is an older technique with renewed interest and new products that make it so much easier, faster and more accurate.The most commonly recognized pattern is the Grandmothers Flower Garden made of colorful hexagons, however, recently there has been an explosion of new shapes and patterns.This quilting technique is highly accurate and very portable allowing you to take it with you wherever you go.You will be making a small coaster in class.Class fee:$20.00

Zoom Loom Weaving

Wednesday, Jan. 17;10-12

Turn your scraps of yarn into very versatile woven squares.It only takes 8 yards to make one square!Whip stitch or crochet them together to create everything from scarves, placemats, tablerunners, baby afghans, shawls, home decorator items and more.The possibilities are nearly endless.We have used all weights of yarns from sock to worsted in solid colors and patterning yarns as well.Class fee includes the Zoom Loom and is $50.00

Diagonal Strip Block Quilt

Tuesday, January 23; 10-5

This quilt is made with blocks that are made with strips which are set on the diagonal.It is a fresh new pattern design of simple strip pieced construction.Start with 10” squares, cut them into strips, piece, sash and quilt.Learn how to cut those 10” squares into perfectly sized pieces in no time using the technique learned in class.This class is for those with some cutting and piecing experience who wish to learn more about quick cutting techniques and diagonal block construction.You will cut the fabrics and piece some blocks in class with the quilt to be finished at home.Class fee:$40.00

Knitted Cable Scarf

Learn how easy it is to knit cables while making this chill-chasing scarf.The pattern is an easy reversible cable stitch and is written for 3 different weights of yarn; DK, worsted or bulky.In class you will cast on and knit several repeats of the cable pattern.From then on, it is simply repeating what you have learned until the scarf is your desired length!You will experience how easy the beautiful cable pattern really is!Class fee:$25.00

Cobblestone Quilted Table Runner

Wednesday, January 31; 10-5

This table runner is just as cute as can be at 12” x 38”.Select a background fabric, piece 18 different 5” charm squares into “cobblestones” and add a fusible applique to each end.Learn accurate cutting and piecing techniques, fusible or wool applique.We used felted wool for our appliques.Make it fun and simple; start with one of our kits!Class fee:$40.00

It is Time for A New Tote!

This tote is nice and roomy measuring 16” wide across the top and 12” tall with 4” gussets. Roomy enough for a quick get-away or for projects “in the works”. It has 17 pockets inside, a “no sag” bottom and is fat quarter friendly.This class will teach you basic bag construction, simple zipper installation and what interfacings and linings to use for best results in all of your totes and bags.Plus, you will go home with a terrific new tote bag!Class fee:$40.00

Ruler Work Machine Quilting Demo

Saturday, February 10; 11-1

Ruler Work is the common name given to machine quilting which is accomplished by stitching along different shapes of rulers.It enables you to achieve accurate straight line stitching without marking, to create beautiful quilted designs and borders and gives you the ability and satisfaction of completing a quilt from first stitch to last.This introductory demo will show examples and discuss the tools and techniques.Class fee:$10.00

Quilt Bindings

Saturday, February 24; 10-1

Binding is the final step to a beautifully completed quilted project.It is to be celebrated not dreaded!Bring an item to class that needs to be bound.We will discuss sizes, bias vs. straight, curves, corners, how to apply and how to finish.After this class you will look forward to the binding!Class fee:$30.00

Appliqued Tea Towel

Tuesday, March 6; 10-1

Turn a plain tea towel into a designer accent piece with a bit of applique and trim.You will learn fusible applique, machine stitching around the appliques and adding a fabric trim if desired.It is a quick to finish item that is a perfect gift when you want a little something special.Class fee:$20.00

Beginning Sock Knitting

3 week class

Wednesday, March 7, 14, 21; 10-1

Sock knitting has had the reputation of being shrouded in mystery and left only to master knitters.It is time to change that; if you can knit and purl, you can make socks!In the first class you will learn how to cast on to knit in the round and begin knitting the cuff.Go home and knit round and round until you reach the heel.In week two you will learn how to begin the afterthought heel and to continue knitting to the toe.In week three you will learn the toe decrease and how to complete the heel.Sock one is done!Class fee:$50.00

Just for You

Plan a class for you and 2-3 or more of your friends.It can be something from a current schedule, something we have offered in the past or something you have always wanted to try or know more about.Give us a call with your ideas, dates and times so we can make a plan.Please allow at least 3-4 weeks for planning, scheduling a date and staffing.It is that easy to have a fun mini retreat in Paradise!

To Ensure Your Success in Classes

Preregistration and prepayment are required for all classes.This allows the instructor to be properly prepared and allow us to schedule additional staffing.Registering at least one week in advance of the class date is greatly appreciated.There are supplies that are need for classes and we will advise you of those at the time of payment and registration.Unless otherwise noted, class fees are for instruction only


All supplies are available at Village Fabrics & Crafts.We strive to keep all items in stock to make your preparation and shopping easy, convenient and greatly appreciate it when you purchase your supplies from us.We have tested them and are confident in their quality and your success when using them.If you have some supplies at home, you are welcome to bring them.

For your convenience our classroom is fully equipped with irons, ironing boards, cutting mats and rulers.We also have Bernina sewing machines available for use.Please reserve one when you register for your class as they are available first-come, first-serve.

You select the project, date and time, give us as much notice as possible to work it into our regular schedule, prepare and we'll have a date! You can select from classes listed on the current schedule (if the date doesn't fit your group), something offered in a previous schedule or just ask if you have any other interests; we'll do our best to accommodate. We're here to help you enjoy all the needle arts to their fullest!
